Dilemma...

A girl was standing in the middle of the silent crossroads. The air was still and the surrounding was dark. There was nobody in sight; no sound, no shadows.

She looked bleakly around. She could only see the four roads stretching so far ahead but she couldn’t figure out where they led to. She felt stranded and she was all alone.

She tried to search for a sign, the name of the road maybe but there was none in sight. She tried to feel her instincts, her sixth sense but they were blocked. She knew time was running out and she had to make a quick decision. She had to choose her path and seek for a way out.

Still, she dare not move. She was scared she might choose the wrong path and that would lead her to disaster. Every little element came to her mind at once, circling around her brain. Everything turned complicated.

Suddenly white lights shone directly at her from all directions. She covered her eyes for a moment and tried to squint at the glaring lights. She thought she saw things moving all around her. She recognized them. At the end of each road, she saw a moving see-saw, a roller-coaster, a space-shot and a swing respectively.

She was confused. Was she in a playground? Were they real or mirages? What were they supposed to mean? Where should she go?

She couldn’t answer her own questions. All of them seemed alluring. The swing looked comfortable, the see-saw seemed interesting, the roller coaster was challenging and she was fascinated with the space-shot. Was this a trick or a test for her? Too much to think, too little time. She knew she couldn’t rely on anybody. Nobody could guide her or help her there. She had to make her own choice. She had to decide, sooner or later.

She just stood there, waiting for the right time, waiting for the right signal…

Just waiting…
